Overall, it was an excellent talk. It was delivered both forcefully and with humor. In particular, he got a lot of laughs early on with his sarcastic wit. I just wish he would have presented it with less of an edge. What resonated the most is that when working with members of the community we will have to “apologize for being associated with Ivy”. It is a very good thing for us to hear. It’s hard to apologize for something that you are proud of and have worked very hard to achieve (in the case of everyone here, whether rich or poor). If I had my way, we would have a national primary, with all primaries conducted on the same day, anywhere from February to April. Think about it, since campaigning and debates is now a two year cycle, there would be plenty of time to raise money and travel the country speaking on their stances on issues. A national primary would also give all states equal clout in choosing their party’s candidate.

Wow, my inaugural post. Med school starts TODAY. Actually, it ’s a little ambiguous exactly when it starts. For example, classes don’t start until September 5th, the day after Labor Day, and the so-called “First Day of Classes” isn’t until Friday the 8th. But tonight we have a barbecue to kick off two pre-orientation activities: MOOT and SAY. MOOT is for hikers and would-be-hikers. They trampse around the local mountains. I have decided to participate in SAY, which is comprised of service activities around University Town. Then, next Tuesday, on August 29, true orientation begins.
